COORETEC – MONIKA

The facility consists mainly of two refractory-lined circulating fluidized reactors (600 mm and 400 mm diameter, around 10 m high), which can be operated individually or in combination. The facility includes fuel feeding systems, gas preheaters, off-gas coolers, bag filters, fans, supply of technical gases (O2, N2, CO2) from tanks. Furthermore, the facility comprises installations to for gas cleansing and synthesis.

Scientific Environment

Pilot testing of various processes such as carbonate looping, chemical looping, oxyfuel combustion, and gasification, including the use of different feedstocks and fuels, such as biomass and waste-derived fuels.

State of the Art, Uniqueness & Specific Advantages

The 1-MWth DFB plant at the Technical University of Darmstadt is unique due to its modularity and size.
