Open Access

ECCSEL offers a multidisciplinary open access service for researchers from all over the world. Access to ECCSEL facilities can be secured using your own funding. In this case confidentiality over the results is offered. ECCSEL facilities can also be accessed using EU financed transnational access funding. When transnational access funding is available, this is announced on the website and calls for application is available. In exchange for EU funded transnational access, the users are required to publish the results of the experiments, with appropriate references to the ECCSEL facilities and the scientific and technical staff involved.

ECCSEL facilities are open to scientists from academia, industry and SMEs from across the world.

Application for access should be submitted online through the ECCSEL website. When applying for access using transnational access funding the best projects will be selected by peer review through an international panel of experts.  Applications for facility access are evaluated in accordance with ECCSEL principles of scientific excellence. We have the following peer review assessment criteria:

  • Scientific merit (originality, innovation, methodology, state of the art)
  • Level of research and the extent to which the proposal will produce new knowledge
  • Feasibility within the selected facility specifications
  • Dissemination of results
  • TRL-level
  • Ethical perspectives
  • Environmental impact
  • Required time for the research

When conducting the research project at ECCSEL facility site, training can be offered by technical and scientific staff at the facility. Please contact us to hear more about support offered at the facility.
