ECCSEL Enhancing Norwegian Capabilities

ECCSEL-ENC is a Norwegian national initiative to upgrade and establish advanced research facilities for carbon capture, utilisation and storage (CCUS) and related clean energy technologies. The project strengthens Norway’s position as host of ECCSEL ERIC, the European research infrastructure for CCUS, and ensures Norwegian researchers and industry have access to state-of-the-art tools to accelerate the transition to a climate-neutral society. The project runs from 2025 to 2028.

Objective

  • Upgrade and establish research facilities across SINTEF, SINTEF Energi, NTNU, IFE, and NORSAR.
  • Provide new experimental platforms for CO₂ flow metering, chemical looping, combustion, materials testing, and seismic monitoring.
  • Strengthen national capabilities while ensuring integration into the ECCSEL ERIC framework.
