The equipment consists of two small vibroseis trucks, 1280 wireless nodes and a 200 m landstreamer. The equipment was acquired in 2024 and is operated by GEUS for research and commercial projects.

Vibroseis trucks: two UV2 from Inova Geophysical

  • Vehicle weight: 16.5 tonnes
  • Hold-down weight: 8-15 tonnes
  • Dimension: 7,9 m x 2,2 m x 3,1 m
  • Speed: 22 km/hr
  • Peak force: 115 kN
  • Frequency: <1 Hz to 400 Hz
  • The two vibroseis trucks can generate synchronised sweeps for higher vibration levels

Wireless nodes: 1280 WING DFU from SERCEL

  • One-component MEMS accelerometer
  • Bandwidth: 0-400 Hz
  • Sampling rate: 4, 2, 1, 0.5 ms
  • Timing: synchronous to GPS clock
  • Battery autonomy: 1200 hours (50 days)
  • Weight: 830 g

Landstreamer: 200 m SeisMove from Nordic Geophysics

  • Adjustable length with five in segments of 40 m, each with 20 sensors at 2 m interval
  • Total of 100 sensors and 300 channels
  • Sensors DSU3 from SERCEL (three-component MEMS accelerometers)
  • Bandwidth: 0-800 Hz
  • Sampling rate: 4, 2, 1, 0.5, 0.25 ms

Scientific Environment

The land seismic equipment is based at GEUS, the largest institution for geoscience in Denmark, which holds a broad range of expertises relevant for, e.g. CO2 storage, incl. seismic interpretation with well-ties, stratigraphic/biostratigraphic analyses, flow experiments on core samples, geological interpretation, static and dynamic reservoir modelling, plume migration, monitoring for induced seismicity, land uplift, and groundwater.

State of the Art, Uniqueness & Specific Advantages

GEUS offers research-based seismic imaging using both active seismic imaging (vibroseis as source) and passive seismic imaging (ambient noise as source). The available equipment is suitable for small to mid-size 2D and 3D surveys.

Quality Control / Quality Assurance (QA)

Activities / Tests / Data are

State of Quality: QC of vibration level and data acquisition will be carried out in all surveys.
